Tell me about something beautiful you noticed today.
If you didn't notice anything beautiful, go out and look.
Today (so far) I've noticed...
The way my girlfriend's hair rests on her shoulders. How soft her hands are. How soft her lips are. The way Tuxedomouse's eyes look when she's been caught jumping into my jacket. The soft edges of the snow around the lawn. The way the morning frost turns my route to work to silver, and how the warmth of the day leads it to gold. The soft sounds of my sisters laughing and playing in the living room. My husband's eyes when he looks at me and he thinks I don't notice. The quiet hum of working together. The softness of my sweater. The feel of my smile when I think of those I love.
Posted by Meera at February 08, 2003 03:35 PMThe light dusting of snow on the baby pine tree, that reflected the early slanting sunlight like mica, glittering in the early day.
That pale blue sky unique to winter, a whisper of blue with the sun remembering to return and bring us back to spring - earth spinning - years turning.
Erg. That's it for today. Good exercise, though.
Posted by: djinn on February 8, 2003 09:38 PMI couldn't sleep past 3AM. So I sat here at the computer, looking out a southeast window...
Dawn was lovely. Cerise and purple and glowing with saturated color.
Try as I might, though, I can't find beauty in the cobwebs at the corner of the windowsill. So I'm going to have to dust.
And you stole my line about the girlfriend's hair.
Posted by: Rikbeth on February 9, 2003 07:11 AMThe flash of bright bright ultramarine blue as the sun skates off the back of an early arrival bluebird. Spring to follow, just not soon enough...
Posted by: djinn on February 9, 2003 08:54 PMMy little one all sleepy and grumpy this morning, with her brow creased against the light, her hair a big mess, and her rose red lips, pouting at being forced out of bed, even though she doesn't feel well.
and here at the RenCen, the way the snow gets caught in the wind currents between the buildings and falls upward. It's like being underwater.
and my friends blogs when new stuff is posted. It's like getting a present.
Posted by: LizT on February 10, 2003 12:08 PMThat glitter of snow that is so cold it crunches under your feet, with a heroic half moon casting enough light for a full, and the stars shining so brightly that the glint of snow seems to make the heavens surround you, above and below, in that silent cold of space.

assembled in ethereal hangers
leaping to the zephyr runways
and swirling into the sky
each a masterpiece
whipping through currents
like gleams of fey dust
grounding with a giggle
