After the bumps in the road are smoothed out, we start to take many of our relationships for granted, forgetting to show how special they are, or how much we love them. I find this to be true of long term campaigns as much as romantic relationships.
Have you hugged your GM today?
Just like as in when we connect again with our partner and receive that new rush, we can come up with new things to do in an old game. A new puzzle, a new quest, a new character... And then there's "New Game Energy." That new relationship. It's all sparkly, and you get the kind of attention and appreciation and ooh! possibilities that your old game has kind of worn.
How many times have you thought, "Well, that's a neat idea, and in my next game, I'll do X..."? That next game has an excitement!
I'm working on a game I'm really pleased with so far, and I know because it's a New Game, I'm thinking of all of the things I can do for it. All the special pieces, and the energy - all the lovely energy! It's the creative high combined with the "shiny!" of a new toy.

Some days as a GM, I sure could use a hug!
