Jelica: BESM Character

I've mentioned Jelica enough on here it seemed like a good time to talk about her stats... this is her "starting version" - there have been quite a number of changes since.

Queen Jelica

Body: (High)
Mind: (Average)
Soul: (Above Average)

Massive Damage Level 3 (6 pts - +15 to all damage)

This is a combination of training, gifts, and strength that provides Jelica with the "extra oomph" required to get past the armour of most of the generic monsters of the desert. She started developing this around age 10, successfully tested by her father against the exoskeleton of a sandshark near the border of Qatar.

Super Strength Level 1 (3 pts - can lift about 1/5 ton,
-4 to pure-strength Body checks, +10 melee damage)

At some point in Damascus' history, members of the royal family's bloodline were given a boon from an interested entity. This boon has bred true in most of the members, although a lot of superstition has also grown up around it. It is considered one of the necessary signs of suitability to the throne. Jelica also believes (however true; these myths were encouraged since before King Alma's reign) that the strength is only there to be used against "monsters." To some extent, this has warped Jelica's viewpoint entirely of, for example, "minions" having to be of monstrous qualities or else she would not have her strength to use against them.

Damn Healthy Level 2 (+20 Health)

Jelica can take a little more damage than the average person of her build, much of it having been tested in the extreme environments of Damascus, as well as neighboring areas.

Highly Skilled Level 1 (+10 Skill Points)

Kensai Level 3
Item of Power Level 1
Personal Gear Level 1

She has a horse. It's not her horse; she lost that in the last battle before the curse settled. It's a good horse. It does what it's supposed to do, and she can ride it despite not having all the skills in horseback riding she wants to have.

Combat Mastery Level 1

Before she was given the heirloom sword (a choice she regrets, as she feels having it may have saved her father's life) she was trained by her mother's valet in these skills. She does not use "precise stroke" as often as she could, mostly again (at least in this campaign) because she feels it is part of her Royal Gift to not kill humans with this information.

Defects:
Curse - 2 pts: Cannot Return Home (You were deposed not just by your Evil Archchancellor(tm), or somesuch, but they had the aid of a powerful warlock who laid a curse on you such that you can't go back. The capital city is definitely strictly offlimits, and maybe we can come up with something interesting/nasty that occurs if/while you're within the borders...)

"May you never find your home." Some people sum it up with, "You can never go home again," and Jelica is beginning to understand that. Her time out "in the world" apart from insular Damascus will make it difficult to return contentedly to the everyday role she had imagined. As she matures and takes on additional responsibilities she is finding the fears that she badly neglected her people to gnaw at her. Now she feels the only way she can "make it up" to her people is by doing something truly great...and saving the world might just be that thing.

Wanted - 1 pt: The Evil Archchancellor(tm) isn't personally involved enough anymore to count as a Nemesis, but he has spies and the occasional mercenary keeping an eye out, and he wouldn't exactly *mind* if your head came back to him, so long as it came alone. If the Curse is ever removed, mind, it would very likely be replaced by a Nemesis who seriously wants you dead - he knows how physically formidable you are. Hence, the curse.

Skills:
Acrobatics (1) 3 pts - Specialized in Horseriding
Swimming (2) 2 pts - Specialized in Hunting Monsters
Wilderness Survival (1) 3 pts - Specialized in Hunting Monsters [Damascan Environs]
Melee Attack (3) 15 pts - Specialized in Sword
Melee Defense (1) 5 pts - Specialized in Sword
Thrown Weapons (1) 4 pts - Specialized in Rock
Cultural Arts (1) 2 pts - Specialized in Courtly Etiquette
Military Science (2) 6 pts - Specialized in Hunting Monsters

Description:
Jelica has dark black hair, dusky skin, and gold eyes. She prefers to wear blues and golds.

Character Notes:

Jelica is the only child of King Faris and Queen Yfanna. Makar El Ronious was heir to King Alma and Queen Jasmine, but for many reasons, the throne came to King Faris instead. King Alma and Queen Jasmine had another child, a daughter, Anselma, who did not survive her tenth year.

King Faris was a strong-willed but gentle king. He married the intensely brilliant Yfanna after a strange courtship that took him out of Damascus for several months. Yfanna brought her valet and bodyguard, Steele, and a number of attendants, including a trusted advisor, Jaffar, to the court. Yfanna was utterly loyal to Faris, but was known for her sharp tongue and intense displeasure when someone failed to be as loyal as her example.

Jelica's problems began when her mother was killed (suspected poison.) Steele, her respected trainer was soon to follow, and much of Faris' will seemed to have died with Yfanna. Jelica was attempting to find a replacement for Steele when she and her father were called more and more often to take care of creatures that were raised on the borders. It was a particularly nasty scorpiogre that took Faris from Jelica in front of her eyes. She killed the creature with an almost berserker rage and then returned to claim the throne.

She understood a section of the political spectrum, but not all of it, and the impending marriage to Jaffar was met with approval from most of her father's advisors. Her frustrations with this event were compounded as her father had hoped to persuade Jaffar otherwise before the events of the last trip. She never quite had to invent excuses to be away from Castle Damascus, but she found herself having to range farther and farther to find her prey.

She woke up a few months ago to a sudden sense of panic and loss of direction. Once she was informed as to the reason, she was first filled with hatred towards Jaffar and panic overall. Time and her experiences have changed her mind.
