It's Just A Game (II)
Back to the concept of that "reality" versus "game" switch, it came up that I was able to look at my boss and explain that, well, I had a functioning one with a dimmer switch, instead.
See, for some people, gaming really IS a hobby. Something they can put down and go on with real world stuff. For me, gaming is a 24/7 thing, where sure, I'm doing OTHER things, but my mind is busy in the background drawing connection, idea-mining, etc.
Now, I don't talk about it all the time, the way talking about toilet functions is to be reserved for special occasions. (Erm.) I am very fortunate to have an understanding work environment. I don't believe in mixed-marriages for gamers anymore.
But when it comes down to it, I'm not just stapling paperwork together, I'm mentally slaying dragons. Calvin, you and Hobbes ain't got nothin' on me.
