A New PBeM...

Hold on, wait--!

I'm not running a new Amber PBeM. My Amber PBeM GMing days are officially over. I know what happens to people who consider running Amber PBeMs. I like to think I have more respect than that.

With that said...

...I'm never unamenable to the idea of running little scenarios with people through e-mail. That's qualitatively different.

I have a little scenario that is tugging at me to run through, kind of in a real limited playtest for a convention. I have two different ways of doing this: one, to use what the players do as a background to a con game, and the second to get some ideas of what way people might jump in a con game.

It's a troupe game, with each player having three characters, one each in a separate time and Reality, and each Reality changing the others subtly.

In the beginning there was darkness, and things in that darkness dreamed of light. Two of these beings shared a dream of form/order, and Primal/Oberon was born, bringing form/location to the universe. The changes wrought by the Pattern are slow but a wave of genesis has reached as far as the Soulhome/Abyss. The feminine/ocean meets the masculine/Arden in a place called Primal/Oberon. Two other beings are created in this: Cymnea, Tir Queen, half-trapped in Form while her forces attempted to prevent this dream from becoming Reality, and Lir, Sea King, who represents the undercurrents and treachery in Cymnea's forces. Oberon attempts to anchor his world by merging with Cymnea, bringing new life, but it instead splinters the Primal and he must dissolve it as if it had not existed, dooming his youngest son to a split between life and death.

That's one set of characters.

Fast forward three millenia; the wave of genesis has broken against Soulhome, and shaped civilizations that reflect the splinter called Amber even against the Abyss. Amber has forgotten its roots, until the Patternstorm is called, Oberon returning Home, no longer bound by form. Did one of the Children of Form follow the Dreamers? No, two did.

That's the next set of characters.

Fast forward thirty millenia; the forces of A'Ber Station are often set upon by the primitives of Ardenholt. The desert of Remba whips its deadly storms against the Station, but it is the heart of the Galaxy, and home to fabulous treasure as well as treachery. Something seems to be coming towards it, some force, something that will change past, present, and future.

Create legends in each.

Mythic. Different. Interesting.

I'm intrigued.
