[music ends]
"Dude. What is THAT?"
"Look, if just one of you says `Zoinks!' I'm hitting you with a drumstick. Same if you quote `Ghostbusters."'
"But it's a full-figured floating apparition!"
[bonk!]
"Hey!"
"Told you."
"What's it doing?"
Random sighed. "It wants us to follow it. Think of it this way: I think it's a fan."
Setting: You are a member of the Electric Tongue, a somewhat successful band that had its humble beginnings in the living room of one Random Preston. Everything was going great. From playing school dances you're now actually on tour. You've got roadies. You've even got groupies. And now? It looks like you've got ghosts.
Character Instructions: Game is extremely freeform (by which I mean there's very little need for system.) Characters are built on six points, with no powers, no points in attributes, but maybe some (non-sentient, non-shapeshifting) modern items, or access to a Shadow, or even an Amber devotee. Attributes are assumed to be all "Chaos"-level. Your characters can play instruments. Beyond that, tell the GM what your character used to do for a day-job (before this band took off!) in a Shadow not too unlike Earth, and how they met Random Preston.
Notes Below
The game premise came from a dream I had prior to The Black Road 2006. Inspired, no doubt, by the online journals of friends attending, I'd had a number of strange dreams of games being run at a convention that doesn't exist.
While certainly a pleasant place to spend a few hours of dreamtime, you can keep your Morpheus' Library cards. Somewhere in the dream realms there's a huge gaming convention with LARPs that are totally awesome. That's where you can find me on odd days, or rather, nights.
It's mostly second series Amber that discusses ghosts, with ample mention of Ghostwheel, Pattern/Logrus ghosts, potentially Shroudlings, and the ty'iga. I try hard to blend the neat ideas of Merlin's chronicles into the gripping drama of Corwin's, with admittedly mixed results.
This game takes place on Earth, with a bunch of folks who play instruments. I don't know how many of my players (if any) have any experience with being members (or roadies!) of bands and the like, but I do intend to satirize that a little. I gave just enough points that if someone wants to have an Amber (or Chaos) connection ("Devotee") that we can work with that.
My sister suggested that I do a mix CD for the players. When we get our player list, I just might do that. We've already decided on half a song-list.
