Four Faces of Pattern: Face 4

"The Pattern is a thing of blood magic, an act of sacrifice that set Dworkin's Will over the universe, bound to him as it is bound by him. The pain in the letting of the blood by the Unicorn's Horn opened the reserves of power within Dworkin, freeing what he had gained by his observations into the Abyss. It is his blood which turned the Serpent's Eye to ruby."

Gains from walking this version of the Pattern: Connection to all of the Blood; a suggestion of what Oberon may have used in dropping the Trumps from working. Inextricably linked to living things, the Blood preserves itself so that fertility may be limited, spent only in the development of new champions. It is this connection to fertility that provides the ability to find the magical paths between Shadow.

Related: Martin's unwilling sacrifice was the only thing that could have rewritten the Pattern; one cannot merely open a vein; in order to break the protection of Dworkin's method, it has to be the negative magic of sacrifice instead.

Who did Oberon use in attempting his fix?

Related: The Pattern is a creature of blood.
This, I believe, was used in part in the LintKing's "Paths of Blood, Ways of Stone," at least in his description of the way the Pattern pulsed and the visions he suggested of clotting and blistering.

Related: Dworkin is an old pit-diver.
