Innocence... and Malice: Details

Players will be choosing from the following characters:

the Baron of Heartbreak
A gentleperson of Helgram's association, a sorceror of specific talents.

Mistress Cheshire
Independent and whimsical, she was appointed as a wildcard by Duke Bances.

Duchess Autumn
Hendrake's champion at law, brought back from retirement for this particular trial.

Prince(ss) of Eastern Light
One of Helgram's leaders, the Prince(ss) is known for sharp commentary on the war.

Master of Knives
Hendrake's top trainer volunteered for this assignment.

Champion of Dreams
The Court requires one member of its elite, not nobility. Bances chose according to the Serpent's whim.

Rinaldo
Surprise guest, representing the rights of the victim.

I'm not altogether unhappy as to the way this game worked. There were a lot of things I had wanted to have before the game, but as it was, I was glad the LintKing and I had made it up early enough to have an Emergency Meeting with Sean and Louisa, our co-GMs.

The Emergency Meeting went something like this:

"You are playing Fiona," I pointed to Louisa. "What you say is right."
"You are playing Bances," I pointed to Sean. "What you say is right."

We also dropped on Sean that the charges included treason as well as murder. We figured we'd throw that one on in private so Fiona wouldn't know that it was an option... and we were stretching a little for it, but it sounded like fun.

I would have liked to have some more in-depth dossiers available, some more props (including the Contract with Helgram) and a chance really to meet with each person, but I think it went pretty well.

Final decision? They dropped the charge of treason against Chaos. She was found innocent of the murder of Brand (although Rinaldo was permitted to seek retribution via the laws of vengeance.) She was guilty of treason to Amber, but Bances was very savvy in not wanting to set that precedent, and instead took the opportunity to hold her in Chaos... perhaps to chain her up in a tower and apply some "psychotherapy" (as she explained was all they did to Brand, really.)
