I have been agonizing over what to do for ACNW 2003. I've got two games pretty much "designed" and ready to test/play/run...whatever opportunities develop. What I don't have is...more than two. As I normally run four or five, this is kind of sparse to me. (Although, honestly, there are more ideas out there than I can really use.) I'm hoping there's a ton of people who just want to run something fantastic this year...but GMs are a fragile, rare breed. [laughing]
A friend of mine suggested that I run an Elfquest crossover with Amber. I have been trying to twist my brain around this concept. It seems to me that Amber and Elfquest (for those of you familiar with the comics) kind of have a number of conflicts in their concepts.
1) Cooperation.
A lot of the conflicts within Amber revolve around the idea that you cannot always trust your fellows. Elfquest, however, relies on the cooperation of the entire pack to accomplish their goals. There may be memorable or significant individuals, but the group is the focus.
2) Resources
A lot of the conflicts within Elfquest revolve around the idea that there are limited resources. Amberites can find...anything...in Shadow (YMMV.) This is one of the reasons I limit Trump; I think the effort involved makes Trump valuable.
3) Family
You cannot be ignorant of your parentage in Elfquest. How many conflicts come from the sins of the fathers (and mothers) in Amber?
I'm sure there's more, but those are immediate thoughts of the incompatibility.
