Monsters! is a potential convention game for AmberCon Northwest 2003.
"The glass is broken, but there isn't a drop of blood."
"That wasn't his body that broke it."
"But he's sprawled on top of the shards."
"He was drained already." The detective took a deep breath of air and shook his head.
"What do you think?" she bit her lip, thinking.
"Send for the mage." He cut off her disagreement with a look. "This isn't the work of a human."
Many centuries after Random's rule, the power and prestige of Amber is fading, and the laws of technology and democracy have increased in its stead. Although the Royal Family has privileges, it is mostly an anachronism, an occasionally obstinant obstacle for the Golden Council which has increased the size of the region, uniting humans against the monsters...
...for monsters there are. Increasing numbers of them. Guns are rare, and seemingly ineffective. There are those who believe the people of the castle know about magic. That they have ways of dealing with these creatures. Superstitious nonsense, many would say... but there's always been something different about these folk. A preliminary force was designed as liaison with the Family. They investigate...monsters.
Players will be either a member of this force, or scions of Amber, both built on a 100 point basis, although Pattern and magics are only available to those with the Blood, and technology is mostly only available to the former.
