Bear with me cousin, for I was amazed

Under the tide: but now I breathe again
Aloft the flood, and can give audience
To any tongue, speak it of what it will.

[King John]

Jovian

What Marius Would Say Aloud:

A nice, neat man, even in keel and no quicker than others to harbour. Yet there resides an underlying playfulness that shows a spirit keen for adventure over order. He is more than bound to a powerful and glorious creature, he has a friendship that binds across races so strange that we can only dream that it reflects hope for our future.

What Marius Wouldn't Say Aloud:

There is a mixture of envy, admiration, and distrust between myself and Jovian. I envy him his partner in soul, for he treats the great beasts as if they were people, and so I ever will. Yet I cannot trust him or that bond, in not knowing it. What decisions are his, and what are the beast's? Is the bond enough of a strength to withstand its liabilities? Does Jovian belong to Amber, truly?

In Plain Words:

Marius would really like to impress a dragon. I don't know, though, that he'd honestly be a good candidate for it unless he dealt with some of his Other Issues. He admires Jovian, and would take orders from him, but he's waiting for a weakness to show. One of those, "Too good to be true," gentlemen in Marius' life.
