O worthiest cousin!

The sin of my ingratitude even now
Was heavy on me...

[Macbeth]

Brennan

What Marius Would Say Aloud:

He is quick to serve, and claim allegiance to a new order. That same service has been both valiant and wise, much as it has been under the extremes of pressure we have experienced. The enigma surrounding him does not exclude the zeal he possesses, and yet it attracts curiosity that is put off by a lack of desire towards confrontation. It would be interesting to see him relax.

What Marius Wouldn't Say Aloud:

He is as gallant as he is trustworthy. That said, are we so quick to clear him of the sins of the father that we bend backwards to avoid reproach? Answer me this: who is it that he hopes to impress, besides the constant desire one might have to improve himself? He has sought efficiency, but not warmth; what might thaw a man such as this? And do we need fear what has frozen him in the first place?

In Plain Words:
He has red hair.
OK, OK... frankly, to be honest, I think Marius has a bit of a crush on Brennan. He would never express it that way, of course. He knows he is being somewhat swept up in the sheer charisma of accomplishment: the idea that someone who does things is a leader. On the other hand, he doesn't trust that Brennan's ulterior is anything but traditionally ambitious. He'd ask more questions, but he doesn't want to pick any fights.
